What Makes a Good Intro for a Video

What makes a good intro video? Well, isn’t that the million-dollar question! In today’s fast-paced age, people do not have the time to watch boring stuff. After all, why should they? The more interesting stuff is just a click away. This is why it is essential to know what makes for a good intro video.

    Use an eye-catching template

With an intro video, design plays a major role. An intro maker platform such as InVideo usually provides a wide range of templates for intro videos. This means that you can take whatever pictures or recorded videos you have and add them to the template. This means that the template will have fixed slots for your designs, brand name, and logo, and all you have to do is add this stuff into the relevant boxes. Sounds easy, right?

This does away with the need to learn graphic designing and programming that is required to make such videos from scratch. However, choose a template that goes with the overall look of your brand as well. For instance, something light and playful may look out of place if you have an informative video.

    Opt for good music

Music makes or breaks a video. If you are making an intro video, the kind of background music you choose is especially important since you only have the span of a few seconds to leave a lasting impression. There is no golden rule as to what kind of music you should use in an intro video. If you want to get people excited, upbeat music with a catchy intro is a good choice. However, if your topic is slightly more serious, then something somber. Remember that part of what makes music catchy is its relation to the content of the video itself. After all, you do not want to appear confused to your audience.

Make your brand name stand out

A key ingredient of a good intro video is that it should introduce your brand. Use your logo, contact details, and brand name prominently. After all, that is the main purpose of an intro video. You want people to know what platform and what brand produced the following content.

This is why ensure that your name is easily readable and in a position where people notice it. However, do not start listing down why your brand is “the best” in your intro video: this can cause people to lose trust in you! Let them see the video itself and figure it out themselves.

    Don’t drag it out

One of the key points for a good intro video is that it should not be too long. This is because an intro video usually only serves two purposes: getting across your brand’s name and giving a small snippet of what is to follow. If you want people to hear about you and your brand, do not make the intro video too long since that will cause a majority of the audience to skip it. After all, think about it. The audience did not come to hear an advertisement about you. You are using the video as an opportunity to advertise, but that is not its core purpose.
