    Knowing what attributes employers are looking for when conducting your job search can help you to make yourself a stand-out candidate.

    You should know what these core skills are and should also be able to demonstrate and talk about how you have developed them during an interview. These skills should also be evident in the experience on your CV and their presence there will certainly increase your chances of moving forward in the recruitment process.

    If you want to be on-target for interview invitations then here is a typical list of attributes that employers are looking for in their employees.

    As you can see the top 6 attributes that employers are looking for are:

    1. Teamwork – How many jobs can you think of that don’t involve any kind of teamwork? We’re guessing not many which is why it is such a crucial skill!

    2. Communication – Both written and verbal communication are vital skills in so many job roles. Can you communicate well with colleagues and clients? Can you compose well-written emails?

    3. IT skills – Technology is taking over our workplaces with new software revolutionising how we work in almost every industry. You need to have the technical know-how to get to grips with it!

    4. Problem-solving – Problems arise all of the time and businesses are continually seeking to improve. Can you keep your cool and tackle problems with confidence?

    5. Time management – Are you going to arrive at work and to meetings on time? Can you effectively manage and plan your workload? Will you meet deadlines? Your time management skills will have a big impact on your productivity at work.

    6. Customer awareness – Can you conduct yourself professionally when dealing with customers? You represent the company you work for, so it’s important that you have customer awareness in almost any role.

    Show them that you have these attributes and prepare specific examples of when you have used them. With so many valuable attributes, how can an employer say no?
