Online job interviews have become routine now. However, people still need help ace video interviews because they do everything right from their end but are still rejected. The rejections come because the mode of the discussion has changed. Likewise, the factors that interviewees consider for judgment have also changed.

But you need not bother! We’re here with you! This article mentions a few sure-fire tips to help you through your video interview and land the job. You’d be glad to know how the little changes you might have never considered can make a huge difference in your conduct.

    Read on!

    1. Run a Device Check

It is evident that an online interview requires you to have a smartphone, laptop, or computer system. Many people these days give interviews on the go, so they use their smartphone, such as iPhone, to appear in video interviews.

If you are the same, you must ensure that it is updated with the latest version for a crash-free interview. If the notification shows storage complete or nearing, do not ignore it and make instant storage by clearing the ‘other storage’ on your phone.

It is the fastest and most reliable way to ensure the device keeps running efficiently. You can check this guide on how to clear other storage on iphone to learn how to fix storage and software update issues in minutes quickly. In addition, you should check the mic, sound, camera, and internet quality to run an uninterrupted interview.

    2. Do not keep any Virtual Background

You may be tempted to show them the best background; however, for an online interview, it is not a good idea. It is distracting and looks unprofessional at the first meeting. So, choose a plain background that lets the interviewer focus on you.

Moreover, if you can not find any professional place in your room or house, you can stage for the time being. You can hang a white or warm-coloured cloth to make it look subtle.

In addition, if you have a well-crafted wall that has been artistically put together with books and intelligent home decor items, choose to sit in front of such a wall. However, you must avoid bed, toilet, and kitchen in the background at all costs.

    3. Dress and Act Professionally

Although it is an online interview, you will not meet the interviewer personally. However, it is essential to dress up professionally regardless of where you are giving the interview.

Even if you are on vacation, you must make the right clothing choice; because ethics never go out of style. In addition, check your posture and facial expressions. You must ensure that you sit straight and comfortably with a warm smile.

Also, when speaking with the interviewer, you must make eye contact. By eye contact, we mean to look into the webcam, so the interviewer sees it as direct eye contact. Looking at the screen while talking, it seems you are looking down. So, be careful.

    Bottom Line

You know the interview drill already; you need to answer some questions and be professional and attentive. Besides these, a video interview requires you to be proactive and have good body language. The mindset of giving an interview from home plays with our minds, so we tend to lose out on significant points. We hope the above pointers help you ace your following video interview and land your dream job!
