There are billions of people who use the platform on a regular basis, if not daily, and this is highly attributed to the fact that Twitter is meant to be fun and informative. There are so many people who use simple things like humour to grow their following, and literally, anyone can do really well on Twitter with just a little bit of work.     Trends on Twitter are a great way for you to get more followers and grow your social media in a rapid and slightly organic manner. Another huge plus about this is that it’s impossible for you to get bored of the trending topics as this changes on a day-to-day basis so you are bound to find something that appeals to you. The kinds of trending topics also vary around a range of types such as challenges, memes, conversations, news, events. There are many reasons why it’s good to jump on a trend to grow followers, and the first one is that it allows your tweet to be seen by people who it ordinarily wouldn’t have been seen by.

    Grow your hashtag game

    Hashtags are pivotal in terms of one’s growth on social media, especially on a platform like Twitter which revolves around trends. Hashtags on Twitter allow people to search for specific types of tweets that they desire to see which in turn allows your tweet to be found by people who are looking for your specific type of content which is the main reason why they are so important for your growth on this platform. There are a variety of hashtags available at your disposal, and you even have the power to create your own hashtags, which is good because it helps you to establish your own brand.

    Videos

    Short videos are very effective on Twitter, and the core reason why this is the case is that it draws people in and makes them pause for more than a second. Twitter is becoming a lot more visual than text-focused, which may be a result of influences like TikTok and Instagram that are hyper-focused on the distribution of images and short videos. Images cause people to stop and ponder over it for a bit longer as they analyze the image. People also love videos as a way to provide context to their text statements and further elaborate on what they mean.

    Live tweet at events

    Now, this is where Twitter truly shines and demonstrates its unique talent and differences that set it apart from other social media platforms because one thing about Twitter is that it is perfect for anything that happens live. Live-tweeting is essentially tweeting about something as it happens in the moment, which often is what attributes to different topics trending on a daily basis. A couple of examples of events to live tweet include concerts, news events, elections, sporting events, dentist visits, and anything else that is worth live-tweeting. It can either be a really cool event or, if you want to, you can have fun with the tweets at a ‘boring event’. This is good because it gives you instant nationwide or even global reach and you will definitely see your follower ratio jump tremendously as people reshare your tweets.

    In the beginning, it may be tough growing a following but as long as you hop on trends, use hashtags and videos, and make sure to live tweet on top of that, then you should be good to go.
