Why Are Multiple Choice Training Programs So Effective?

Multiple choice training initiatives are often wrongly assumed to be an inferior way of upskilling workers.

However, they do contribute a great deal of value to a company in their use. Boasting a completely different array of perks, this more flexible way of training your staff can be a viable way forward.

Keep reading after the jump to discover all the various benefits that make multiple choice training programs so effective.

    The Tests Are Faster

Multiple choice training programs typically don’t take long to complete.

Employees may spend less time deliberating over answers when a handful of options are presented to them. There may be less time lost in their personal lives also, in that workers won’t need to juggle their professional lives with immensely challenging academic commitments alongside them. Should all go to plan, multiple-choice training should embolden your workforce more sustainably.

Timing is also of the essence when it comes to today’s economic circumstances. Late last year, the Prime Minister announced an ambitious overhaul to education and training to “level up and prepare workers for the post-COVID economy”, ranging from digital skills boot camps to free college courses in certain areas. Ultimately, though, there’s a real need to press on and not let the pandemic set businesses back too far, so it may be worth adopting that ethos in your own firm also.

    The Approach is More Dynamic

Due to the timelier nature of multiple-choice training, more material can perhaps be covered in the program.

The CSCS exam is a great example of just how much content can be covered via this approach. All the tests, including the CSCS mock tests, run for 45 minutes and offer 50 multiple-choice questions, offering a compact experience that simultaneously holds great depth. They position applicants in different hypothetical health and safety scenarios on a construction site to test their aptitude. It’s perhaps more relatable learning, enabling employees to identify answers rather than recite them from memory alone.

It could also be the case that multiple-choice questions are more immersive. Imaginatively putting oneself into a scenario with a range of routes to consider could be more stimulating than producing soulless answers after hours spent reading a textbook over the course of many months. It also clearly highlights what the wrong answers are if only one can be correct, which may eliminate future misunderstandings while on the job.

    Boosting Staff Satisfaction

Many people could have preferred ways of retaining information, even if the science behind this possibility is still somewhat unclear.

Still, imagined or otherwise, if you can respect that some people at least believe that they prefer some learning methods over others, then it could bode well for aspects of your business such as staff satisfaction and retention. The training programs you offer could be a great way to nurture this effort and ensure that all your workers feel represented and accounted for when being upskilled.

After all, any capable business should know that there’s more than one way to secure success. Tailoring your workplace functions to the personal needs of your staff is surely one of them. Diversify the workforce and introduce alternate ways of training, and you may find yourself enjoying the benefits of a more multifaceted talent pool.
